Literature Text

You ran away, you wretch, until The Stars
rose up like embers in the sky to cast
their fury down on you, a glare to melt
your will, to slow your gait, to wear upon
your mind, for you have stuck a thorn in mine.

Forgive? You jest - I shame myself, but no,
I wholly find myself unable to.
Your cowardice and lack of care for life,
you thief! do pray we never meet for then,
O, then you will feel fire from my eyes.

So innocent She was, so fine and young.
The Stars shone from Her deep brown eyes, Her laugh
melodic, sweet. She shined Her radiance
upon the world to brighten it, bring peace.
She knew She was with child, as did I;

but you, of course, knew no such thing, nor did
you care the night you chose to drive away,
you coward, bolting once you struck my dear.
The Stars have faded since that night so ill,
save gazing from above reminding us.

Now pale, and cold, The Stars live in my heart.
The form essentially consists of four blank verse quintains in a sort of iambic pentameter, with a single verse envoy, I suppose you could call it.

beautifully constructed, the fit between metre and subject is excellent congratulations.
